Captain Sim's Legendary 707 is the most complete and most detailed Boeing 707 package out there. The exterior model is beautifully designed and the liveries are extremely high quality. The package contains 5 different Boeing 707 models: B707-320B, B707-320ADV, B707-300 Cargo, VC-137C and E-3A. Many liveries are included: American Airlines, TWA, South African, Lufthansa, Air France, British Airways, Braniff, Continental, Equatoriana, Luftwaffe, British Midland, Olympic, Pan Am, Qantas, Spanish AF, Varig and BOAC. The EWACS model is in White standard and NATO 50 livery. And ofcourse, the VC-137C is in Air Force One colors.
The 2D panel and the virtual cockpit looks very realistic. Not all buttons are clickable in the virtual cockpit, like those on the overhead and flight engineer panel, but they are clickable in 2D cockpit mode. Many systems are simulated, some of them include visual animations. Moving window wipers can be seen in the virtual cockpit and the exterior view modes. Even the fuel dump is simulated, a contrail of fuel is visible when the fuel dump is in progress.
The flight dynamics are excelent. The control inputs are a bit slow, just like it should be on an old aircraft like the Boeing 707. Even the spoolup time of the engines is slow, which is normal for old jet engines. Another thing about old jet engines is that they produce a lot smoke. This effect is simulated as well, the amount of smoke depends on the amount of thrust. |
