Overland (Simmer's sky) Boeing 737-900
PAYWARE
The Boeing 737 is a popular medium-range, narrowbody commercial passenger jet aircraft. The Boeing 737-900 was launched in 1997 and is a stretched version of the 737-800. Many new improvements like more fuel efficient CFM56-7 turbofan engines, increased wingspan, increased fuel capacity, higher MTOW, redesigned vertical stabilizer and glass cockpit with modern avionics are standard on all Next Generation 737s.

Simmer's sky is a label of the japanese company Overland Co.,Ltd. Along with a few other products, they sell the Fly into the sky! package, which contains many Airbus and Boeing aircraft.

Like all aircraft in the Fly into the sky! package, this Boeing 737-900 is a beautifully designed aircraft and represents its realworld counterpart well. The package contains only one Boeing 737-900 livery: Korean Air. The 2d panel is framerate friendly, but doesn't have a FMC. For full IFR flights, you need to use the default Carmin GPS unit. ILS Approaches are no problem, just enter the course/ILS frequency and use the LOC and APPR buttons. The virtual cockpit is a bit simple, only the most important systems are modelled. But it looks nice and is framerate friendly too. There is also a wingview model for even better framerates.

The flightdynamics are ok, but the ground effect is minimal, which can result in bumpy landings due to the little effect of the flare. Another thing is the main landing gear. Like almost all other overland aircraft, the main landing gear seems to float for a bit over the runway upon landing and finally sinks to the ground when rolling out. This is a common problem in FS, especially landing gear sets with four-wheel bogies or even more wheels. In this case the problem is present with two-wheel bogies.

NOTE FOR FSX USERS: This aircraft is fully compatible with FSX. However, because a few orginal FS2004 gauges are used by the aircraft in the Fly into the sky! package, FS2004 must be installed on your computer. If you don't have FS2004, it's best to wait for a FSX patch or FSX version of the Fly into the sky! package. Please follow these instructions if you want to import this aircraft from FS2004 into FSX:

1. Copy the folder "SMS_737-900" (located in the aircraft folder of FS2004 e.g. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Aircraft\ ) to the Airplanes folder of FSX (e.g. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\ ).

2. Copy the files "737-400.gau", "PAP744_W.CAB", "PAP737NG.CAB" and "PAP777_W.CAB" from the main gauges folder of FS2004 (e.g. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Gauges\) to the main gauges folder of FSX (e.g. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Gauges\).

Next time when you start FSX, the aircraft should be visible in the aircraft selection list and work fine. If you like to see a thumbnail image for each livery, you need to make a screenshot of each livery of the aircraft and resize it to 256x128 pixels (use an image editor like photoshop, paintshop or whatever you prefer). Make sure the image format is JPG and name each of them "thumbnail.jpg". Then copy the image to each texture folder inside the aircraft folder (e.g. \SMS_737-900\texture\ ).
