Hi,

Im new with FSX but anxiously learning it all the time.

I faced a problem when climbing to 38000 ft or above with 747. Before I got even 38000 ft, my plane stalled already, but covered it quite quickly though. I was climbing with autopilot & autothrottle. At somepoin I was managed to climb to 38000ft (barely) but then I was not able to level my plane, so it flies basically nose up, with obviously quite a lot of throttle:)

If I drop the nose to level it, i lose altitude very fast.... If im not completely wrong, I have done the after takeoff checklist etc so it should be ok.

Any help would be highly appreciated:)

Cheers

40,000 feet is quite high even for a Boeing 747. The initial cruise altitude for a 747-400 is 32,900 feet at highest takeoff weight.

You can only maintain a high altitude when the aircraft is not fully loaded with fuel.

Hi Chris,

Thanks! Now that I double checked, it makes sense. I was looking the maximum altitude that is described for 747. Secondly, I was using IFR flight rules (default) and did not planned the flight myself, so the ATC made me try to climb to 38000ft which i did not managed, well, barely with a stall:))))

Better get plan the flights myself;-) Oh, by the way, any good idea of freeware flight planning software?

Anyway, thanks a lot for your "wake-up" reply:-)

Cheers
