Abacus Fly the Boeing 787
review
Not in service yet in the real world, but all ready in the virtual sky: Boeings newest family member called '787 Dreamliner'. It shows that Abacus Publishing was the first to release a payware Boeing 787 Dreamliner. A few things on the exterior are not quite right. For example, the wings - which are not flexing - are too much bended. Also, the tail looks different than the tail of the real 787 and the stabilizer trim is not animated. The landing gear is floating at touchdown, doesn't have suspension and the wheels are not at the right angle.
The liveries are not very well done, except the Boeing house colors livery. There are only two liveries of real world carriers: Iceland Air and All Nippon Airways. The rest of the liveries are virtual airlines like Fly UK VA. And I have no idea what 'Sucaba Air' is. The flight dynamics are not bad, it is not very difficult to handle this 787. The 2d panels and the virtual cockpit are simple and don't look like the real 787 cockpit (well, at least compared to the pictures that Boeing showed us so far). Don't expect systems like TCAS and GPWS, those are simply not modeled. A simple FMC can be used to load FS flight plans and ute them in order to auto navigate on IFR flights.
Some nice features are: A passenger cabin which is fully modeled into the virtual cockpit. Also, the wings and engines are visible from the cabin windows. With the wing fold command, air stairs, a fuel truck and baggage carts show up around the aircraft. The manual is a short readme file and a FMC Users Guide (11 pages PDF file) as well as some info files about the virtual airlines.

More pictures of a particular aircraft are usually available on the developer/publisher website. We have 8 screenshots to give the visitor just an impression of the aircraft. It also fits nice into this layout :)on 12/24/2008 at 16:13:18
About the wings, they are far too much bended. Only the ends are bended, kinda winglets. Nice site btw.Add a Comment
