Allied Fs Group Caravelle
review
The SE 210 Caravelle is a short/medium-range jet airliner, produced by the French company Sud Aviation. The first prototype of the Caravelle with registration number F-WHHH first flew on May 27, 1955. Certification followed in May 1959. With a total of 282 Caravelles built, it was a successful first generation jetliner.
Allied Fs Group (AFG) is a freeware flightsim developer group, founded in late August 2000. Their Caravelle is a beautiful and detailed model. The liveries are superb, very detailed. The model doesn't have a virtual cockpit, but the 2d panel is very well done. Most systems are simulated and the majority of buttons and knobs are clickable. Various sub-panels can be displayed via click spots and via the panels overview mode (see screenshot #3). By default, the aircraft loads with the engines off, but you can choose between startup modes via the failures sub-panel. On that panel, you can choose the cold & dark mode or the easy mode with engines on and ready for taxi or takeoff. You can also set various failures to make your flights more interesting. Some of the sub-panels may appear distorted on wide screen displays, but it looks like there is a fix for that on it's way.
All official liveries are available in easy installers, no difficult installation procedures. Both the internal and external sounds are great as is the auto smoke effect. A well written panel manual is included in each package. All animations seem to be accurate, however the main landing gear is floating a bit at touchdown. The braking parachute is also realistically simulated and animated.
