PMDG 737-600

review

The Boeing 737 is a popular medium-range, narrow body commercial passenger jet aircraft. The Boeing 737-600 is the smallest member of the Next Generation 737 family and was launched in 1995 as a replacement of the 737-500. Many new improvements like more fuel efficient CFM56-7 turbofan engines, increased wingspan, increased fuel capacity, higher MTOW, redesigned vertical stabilizer and glass cockpit with modern avionics are standard on all Next Generation 737s.

The Precision Manuals Development Group has been around for some time. Their products are extremely high quality and very realistic. Their "737 The Next Generation" is no exception. The package contains the Boeing 737-600 and 737-700. The other members of the 737 Next Generation family, the 737-800 and 737-900 are available in the 737-800/900 package, an expansion for 737 The Next Generation.

The 737 The Next Generation package is developed for FS2002 and FS2004, so it is not compatible with FSX. Verified by aviation professionals and airline pilots, this 737 is very realistic with flight characteristics that operate within the narrow margin of operator's specifications. Many systems like electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, fire protection, pressurization and fuel systems as well as many more are modeled. An advanced autopilot combined with an interactive FMC operating to real world standards will make it possible to simulate a flight like it is done in a real Boeing 737.

The 2d panel is well designed and looks quite real. The virtual cockpit is fully functional, all buttons are clickable and all displays are functional. In addition to the virtual cockpit, there is even a virtual passenger cabin modeled! In the interest of frame rate, there are 3 different models to choose from: wingview model, virtual cockpit model and virtual cockpit + virtual cabin model. All the usual animations are present and a few special animations like moving window wipers and animated air stairs.

Many add-on liveries are available on the PMDG website, all high quality. Besides both models, the 737-600 and 737-700, the package contains the PMDG house liveries, custom sounds, load manager and operating manual.

Just a note. You HAVE to buy the 737-800/900 expansion or else the cockpit will not be fully clickable.

My default key commands don't work when using this aircraft.

    Is there something wrong?
