Project Fokker Jetline F28

review

The Fokker 28 Fellowship is a classic short-range, narrow body commercial passenger jet aircraft. The 65-85 seat F28 was announced in April 1962 to complement the highly successful F-27 Friendship turboprop. The F28-1000 prototype first flew on May 9, 1967. The final production models were the F28-3000 and the most successful F28, the F28-4000. Both versions are based on the F28-1000 and F28-2000 respectively. 241 F28s had been built when the production ceased in 1987.

Project Fokker Jetline is a Fokker-only freeware developer. Their F28 package contains two F28 models (F28-1000 and F28-4000), panel, sound package, 3 F28-1000 liveries and 3 F28-4000 liveries. The exterior model as well as the liveries are great and all animations seem to be accurate. Although only the most important systems are modeled, the panel looks realistic and works fine. The flight dynamics seem to be realistic and the autopilot is working perfectly. Both the inside and outside engine sounds resemble the classic Rolls-Royce engines very well.

    notes

    These aircraft are not fully compatible with FSX. The gauges used in the panel are too old and will not work. However, the exterior model and sound package (only the engine sound, GPWS is not working) is compatible with FSX. If you want to fly these aircraft in FSX, you will need to use one of the default panels or download a freeware panel that works in FSX. Follow the instructions below if you want to transfer these aircraft from FS2004 to FSX (only if you've FS2004 installed).

    1. Install the package into FS2004 if you haven't done so already.

    2. Go to your FS2004 aircraft folder (e.g. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Aircraft\ ) and copy these folders to the FSX aircraft folder (e.g. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\ ):

    PFJ Fokker F28 Mk1000
    PFJ Fokker F28 Mk4000
    PFJ Fokker F28-library
    PFJ Fokker F28-sound

    3. Go to your FS2004 effects folder (e.g. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Effects\ ) and copy this file to the FSX effects folder (e.g. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Effects\ ):

    PFJ Fokker F28_ll.fx

    4. Open the panel.cfg file that is inside each aircraft folder (e.g. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\PFJ Fokker F28 Mk1000\panel\panel.cfg) with notepad and change the content from:

    [fltsim]
    alias=PFJ Fokker F28-panel

    to:

    [fltsim]
    alias=B737_800\panel

    and then save the file. Do the same for the other aircraft model (PFJ Fokker F28 Mk4000)

    Next time when you start FSX, the aircraft should be visible in the aircraft selection list and work fine. In this case we're using the default Boeing 737-800 panel, but you can use any panel you like. Just change the alias to another aircraft by using the exact name of the aircraft folder (e.g. Airbus_A321).

    If you like to see a thumbnail image for each livery, you need to make a screenshot of each livery of the aircraft and resize it to 256x128 pixels (use an image editor like photoshop, paintshop or whatever you prefer). Make sure the image format is JPG and name each of them "thumbnail.jpg". Then copy the image to each texture folder inside the aircraft folder (e.g. \PF10070v2_F100_Tay-620\Texture.alpiegl\ ).
