Project Opensky ERJ-135/140/145
review
The ERJ 135 is a regional narrow body commercial passenger jet aircraft produced by Embraer, a Brazilian aerospace company. The ERJ-135 is a 11.7 feet (3.6 m) shorter version of the ERJ-145 and has 95% parts commonality with the ERJ 145. The ERJ 145 was launched at the Paris Airshow in 1989 as a stretched and turbofan-powered (Rolls Royce Allison AE3007 engines) modification of the EMB 120 Brasilia. The ERJ-135 was launched on September 16, 1997 and first flew on July 4, 1998. The first delivery was to Continental Express on July 23 1999. The ERJ 140 was introduced in September 1999, first flew on June 27, 2000 and entered commercial service with American Eagle Airlines in July 2001. The ERJ 140 is also based on the ERJ 145 with 96% parts commonality and the same crew type rating.
Project Opensky, is a freeware aircraft developer group that has been around for some time. They developed many aircraft models for FS2002 and FS2004, mostly Boeing aircraft. Their Embraer ERJ-135/140/145 series are highly detailed aircraft. A few of the features are: Realistic flight dynamics, many high quality liveries, realistic gear suspension, advanced lift based flexing wings, opening door with stairs and more. There are many liveries available on their website and in the AVSIM Library. Unfortunately, the rudder yaw effect is insufficient to keep the aircraft aligned with the runway centerline in crosswind conditions. The optional virtual cockpit is quite simple and not fully functional.
