Wilco E-Jets Series ERJ-170/190

review

The ERJ-170 is a regional narrow body commercial passenger jet aircraft produced by Embraer, a Brazilian aerospace company. The ERJ-170 (or ERJ 170-100) was rolled out on October 29, 2001, the first flight was on February 19, 2002. The ERJ-170 was certificated in February 2004 delivered to launch customer LOT Polish Airlines in March 2004. The 1.77m stretched ERJ-175 (or ERJ 170-200) was launched in June 2003. Both versions are powered by GE CF34-8E engines.

The Wilco Publishing E-Jets Series package contains the Embraer ERJ-170 and ERJ-190. Their ERJ-170/190 is a detailed aircraft and comes with many high quality liveries, panel, virtual cockpit, engine sounds, manuals and a configuration program that includes a load manager. Many cockpit systems are simulated with clickable knobs and switches on both the 2d panel and virtual cockpit. Some of the features are: TCAS, GPWS with callouts, weather radar, FMS with fs flightplan import option and realistic EFIS screens.

The virtual cockpit is nicely done and is complete with passenger cabin and moving 3d flight attendant. The cockpit windows can be opened by clicking on the window handles in the virtual cockpit and can be seen on the exterior as well. Animated window wipers are only visible in the virtual cockpit. Everything works very well, although it might take some time to get used to the typical Embraer systems.

Great plane! Gets about the same performance as the Airbus Vol. 1. And better performance than the ERJ-135/145. One thing to look out for, though is that the autopilot lights DO NOT light up which can confuse me to see if my heading, altituide buttons are clicked. Another superb aircraft from Wilco!

I agree with Matt. Wilco did this one well!! I get some of the best frames for any of my addons and there is a lot of eye candy!

Nice aircraft, but when I turn the weather radar on, all that comes up is the full WX weather radar screen. I never get any images of the actual weather.

I have the same problem as Jake, WX radar is always in test mode. Also can't see spoilers deploying in the virtual cabin. But other than that, its incredibly detailed inside and out, handles like a dream and although the FMC needs some getting used to, it is (almost) fully functional and very realistic

Damir - I find that reducing the fuel load helped wonders with take-off. Most times the the aircraft fully load with fuel and pax is overweight. Ones I reduced the fuel..voila take-off was no longer and issue

Hey all, to fix the weather radar, you must first go to the radios, which you can find on the FMC. Then you have to switch something either to or from standby I think... you can email me if you have any more problems....

WX Radar, In the map, turn weather on and turbulance on. Next, click on map and check weather.
    Great plane though!

I've flown on a real ERJ-170. It's cabin is a lot nicer than the 737.

The Wilco E-jets are fantastic! It took a while to get used to them, but I fly them all the time since I found out how to operate them. The VC looks great and so does the exterior. The only thing I didn't like is that Autoland puts the aircraft down too hard and almost doesn't flare. So most of the time I use autoland to get me lined up, and in the final seconds before touchdown I switch off the Autopilot and Autothrottle and I land the plane manually. Too bad though, I have very good experiences with Autoland on PMDG's 747 (my only other payware aircraft). But in general, this plane is great!

has anyone noticed that it takes forever for the ERJ-190 to lift off when your takeing off? is there a way to fix this without using full flaps?

    -thank you
