Historic Jetliners Group Convair 880/990

review

The Convair 880 is a classic four-engined, medium range, narrow body commercial jet airliner. The Convair 990 was a stretched and faster variant of the 880. It was designed to compete with the Boeing 707 and Douglas DC-8 by being smaller and faster, but never became widely used and the production line shut down after only three years. Only 65 880s and 37 990s had been produced when the line was shut down in 1963.

The Historic Jetliners Group is historic aircraft developer of manufacturers like Boeing, Douglas and Convair. Their Convair 880 and 990 are a bit simple, but frame-rate friendly aircraft and there are many different models to choose from. Almost all Convair 880 and 990 variants are available, including the freighter version of the 880. There are also many liveries available on their website.

The flight dynamics are well balanced, everything works as it is supposed to. A 2D panel is optional, as are the sound packages. The panel and sound packages are also available on their website. Note that the 880 doesn't have the wings modeled in the virtual cockpit mode and the main landing gear is sinking a bit into the ground on takeoff and landing. The 990 doesn't have that problem.

That's not st. maarten (TNCM), that's different..., the buildings, taxiways, length of runway and mountains you see it's not TNCM ;)

Shouldn't it be doing something more like 495 to 500 KIAS?
