Qualitywings 757 freeware (beta)
review
The Boeing 757 is a medium to long haul narrow body commercial passenger jet aircraft. The 757 was launched to replace the 727 and entered service in 1983. The production of the 757 has ceased in 2004. Blended winglets are available as a retrofit to increase fuel efficiency and range.
Qualitywings started the development of their Boeing 757-200 in early 2006. At that time, the group was named "Customsim", but changed it to Qualitywings later on. Their domain qualitywings.com belows to someone else now, but they got their 3th domain now: qualitysim.com
The beta version of their 757 was released early 2008 and made available for download. This version is more like a preview. Only the Rolls-Royce powered version is available, with blank textures. There are no liveries available (yet) on the qualitywings website, but a few made by other people are available in the AVSIM Library. The exterior looks very good as do the base textures. No virtual cockpit, panel, wingviews or sounds are included. The default Boeing 737-400 (FS2004) panel and sounds are used instead.
All usual animations are present, including opening passenger and cargo doors, pushback truck and realistic main landing gear behavior. Although many aspects of the aircraft are still under development, it's already flyable. Some of the problems that exist right now:
- Too effective rudder, the aircraft will turn 180 degrees when full rudder yaw is applied
- Autobrake not working (might be due to the fact that the default B737-400 panel is used)
- N1 above 90 in reverse mode
Just handle the rudder with care and brake manually.

Yes, this is too bad. I thought I finally found a freeware 757 with a decent nose but it's no longer available for download. Can anyone host the model files?on 01/20/2009 at 22:31:22
I can, but I'm not allowed to do that. Perhaps their final b757 model will be released soon..?on 01/21/2009 at 16:34:17
That's disappointing, but the payware version is looking great. Thanks for the work you've put into this website, it's very useful.
