Samdim Design Group An-30
review
The Antonov An-30 is a development of the An-24RT, modified and equipped for ground mapping and surveying tasks. A military reconnaissance version was also produced as the An-30M. The An-30 can be easily recognized by its modified forward fuselage which includes a glazed nose to allow the navigator a wide view.
The Samdim Design Group is developer of various Russian aircraft for FS2004 and FSX. Their Antonov An-30 has been released back in 2003, so that's a long time ago. The model was developed for FS2002, but works well in FS2004 too. FSX is not supported. In this review, we're looking at the repacked An-30 that has been released in 2008. This package includes a modified panel and other sounds.
The exterior of the An-30 looks nice, as do the three liveries that are included. The panel looks a lot like the panel of their An-24RV, many gauges and functions are the same. Unfortunately, there are no english popup tooltips and no manual is included. For that you need to use the documentation provided with the Samdim An-26.
The engine sounds are a bit better than Samdim's An-26. The An-30 has all the usual animations plus opening doors, opening cockpit windows and maintenance mode. There is no virtual cockpit and the wings/engines are not modeled in the vc mode either. This results in a very frame rate friendly aircraft that should run well on any system that can handle FS2004.

Good point, but we don't have a military category yet...I might move it to there in the future.Add a Comment
