SCS/Samdim Design Group Tu-124
review
The Tupolev Tu-124 is a short range twinjet airliner, meant to meet Aeroflot's requirement for a regional airliner to supersede the Ilyushin Il-14. The Tu-124 is a further development of the larger Tu-104 and is capable of carrying 56 passengers. The first Tu-124 was completed in 1960 and made its first flight on 29 March 1960. The Tu-124 was powered by two Solovjov D-20P turbojet engines and with that the first short range transport to use turbojet engines. A total of 165 Tu-124s have been produced.
The Samdim Design Group is developer of various Russian aircraft for FS2004 and FSX. Their Tupolev Tu-124 is a high quality freeware product. The exterior is very detailed and the liveries are well done. The panel is very close to the real one with many systems simulated. Unfortunately, there are no english popup tooltips, so you really need to read the manual to know which button or switch does what (unless you understand russian). The aircraft starts in cold & dark mode, so it won't be easy for new simmer to get into the skies.
The Tu-124 has all the usual animations plus opening doors. The automatic engine smoke looks very nice, especially together with the loud external sounds. The download package is an easy to use installer and contains the aircraft, three liveries (Aeroflot 1962-1974, Aeroflot 1974-1980 and CSA), sounds and manual.

Does anyone know how to correctly distribute load and passengers in this craft?on 02/16/2009 at 6:03:14
Search through russian/english forums shows that there is no pax/cargo loading guide available for this model. Authors had in mind to create Load Manager but the job was not finished because of overall small interest of the community to this model.on 04/18/2009 at 17:51:53
The engines don't start.on 06/06/2009 at 6:34:58
One of the best freeware add ons Ive got, Startup takes a while as you have to read the manual included. The bad point is that the AP wont hold altitude below 8,000ftAdd a Comment
