Boeing » Historic Jetliners Group 707

This aircraft is fully compatible with FSX. Here some instructions on how to install this aircraft into FSX:

1. Go to the download page (https://www.simviation.com/hjg/downloads.htm)

2. Choose one of the 707 models. Click on a model, for example "707-320". Then download the basepack and download one or more liveries.

3. On the download page, scroll down and at "OTHER FILES" click on "All Models" left of "EFFECTS". Download the effect files, for example "B367-80, B707, B720".

4. Go back to the download page and click on "Boeing" right of "PANELS + core files". Download the core files "Core Files/gauges (required for all panels)". Manuals and Fuel Management Tutorial are optional. Also download one of the panels, for example "B707-320".

5. Back on the download page, click on "Boeing" right of "SOUNDS". Download one of the 707 sound packs.

6. Now you have all the required files. In this example, I've downloaded the following files:

HJG_Boeing_707-320_v6.zip (the basepack with the model files)
707-320_air_france_1959_328_f-bhsb.zip (livery textures)
HJG_Effects_Boeing_B707.zip (the effects files)
b707_core_files_v1.2.zip (gauges needed for the panel)
b707-320_panel.zip (the panel)
aeromusica_b707_j73c_jt4a.zip (sound files)

7. Unzip the file "HJG_Boeing_707-320_v6.zip" to a temporally folder. Now, in the temporally folder, copy the folder "HJG Boeing 707-320 v6" to the Airplanes folder of FSX (e.g. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\ ). Go inside the "HJG Boeing 707-320 v6" folder that you've just copied (e.g. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\HJG Boeing 707-320 v6\ ) and delete the file "aircraft.cfg". Now rename the file "aircraft_fsx.cfg" to "aircraft.cfg".

8. Unzip the file "707-320_air_france_1959_328_f-bhsb.zip" to a temporally folder. Now, in the temporally folder, open the folder "707-320_air_france_1959_328_f-bhsb". Then copy the folder "texture.air_france_1959_328_f-bhsb" to the "HJG Boeing 707-320 v6" folder inside the Airplanes folder of FSX (e.g. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\HJG Boeing 707-320 v6\ ). Open the file "add to aircraft.txt" with notepad and select all text. Then go to the "HJG Boeing 707-320 v6" folder inside the Airplanes folder of FSX (e.g. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\HJG Boeing 707-320 v6\ ) and open the file "aircraft.cfg" with notepad. Paste the text between:

"// Copyright Historic Jetliners Group. No uploading of HJG materials to any website without prior approval."

and

"[General]"

Change the "xx" in the line [fltsim.xx] to [fltsim.0]. You can repeat this step for every livery, just increase this number every time.

9. Unzip the file "HJG_Effects_Boeing_B707.zip" to a temporally folder. Now, in the temporally folder, copy all the files that end with .fx to the main effects folder of FSX (e.g. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Effects\ ).

10. Unzip the file "b707_core_files_v1.2.zip" to a temporally folder. Now, in the temporally folder, copy the contents of the folder "gauges" to the the main gauges folder of FSX (e.g. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Gauges\ ). Also, copy the contents of the folder "sound" to the main sound folder of FSX (e.g. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Sound\ ).

11. Unzip the file "b707-320_panel.zip" to a temporally folder. Now, in the temporally folder, copy the contents of the folder "panel.b707-320" to the Panel folder inside the "HJG Boeing 707-320 v6" folder. (e.g. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\HJG Boeing 707-320 v6\panel\ ). Choose "overwrite" if asked. Then, inside the panel folder, delete the file "panel.cfg". Then rename the file "panel_fsx.cfg" to "panel.cfg".

12. Unzip the file "aeromusica_b707_j73c_jt4a.zip" to a temporally folder. Now, in the temporally folder, copy the contents of the folder "sound" (inside the folder "aeromusica_b707_j73c_jt4a") to the sound folder inside the "HJG Boeing 707-320 v6" folder. (e.g. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\HJG Boeing 707-320 v6\sound\ ). Choose "overwrite" if asked.

Next time when you start FSX, the aircraft should be visible in the aircraft selection list (under manufacturer "Boeing") and work fine. If you like to see a thumbnail image for each livery, you need to make a screenshot of each livery of the aircraft and resize it to 256x128 pixels (use an image editor like photoshop, paintshop or whatever you prefer). Make sure the image format is JPG and name each of them "thumbnail.jpg". Then copy the image to each texture folder inside the aircraft folder (e.g. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\HJG Boeing 707-320 v6\texture.air_france_1959_328_f-bhsb ).
