Historic Jetliners Group 707
review
The Historic Jetliners Group is historic aircraft developer of manufacturers like Boeing, Douglas and Convair. Their Boeing 707 is a detailed and frame-rate friendly aircraft and there are many different models to choose from. Almost all 707 and 720 variants are available, including the tanker and EWACS variants. There are also many liveries available on their website.
The flight dynamics are well balanced, everything works as it is supposed to. 2D panels and sound packages can be downloaded separately.

notes
This aircraft is fully compatible with FSX. Here some instructions on how to install this aircraft into FSX:
1. Go to the download page (https://www.simviation.com/hjg/downloads.htm)
2. Choose one of the 707 models. Click on a model, for example "707-320". Then download the basepack and download one or more liveries.
3. On the download page, scroll down and at "OTHER FILES" click on "All Models" left of "EFFECTS". Download the effect files, for example "B367-80, B707, B720".
4. Go back to the download page and click on "Boeing" right of "PANELS + core files". Download the core files "Core Files/gauges (required for all panels)". Manuals and Fuel Management Tutorial are optional. Also download one of the panels, for example "B707-320".
5. Back on the download page, click on "Boeing" right of "SOUNDS". Download one of the 707 sound packs.
6. Now you have all the required files. In this example, I've downloaded the following files:
HJG_Boeing_707-320_v6.zip (the basepack with the model files)
707-320_air_france_1959_328_f-bhsb.zip (livery textures)
HJG_Effects_Boeing_B707.zip (the effects files)
b707_core_files_v1.2.zip (gauges needed for the panel)
b707-320_panel.zip (the panel)
aeromusica_b707_j73c_jt4a.zip (sound files)
7. Unzip the file "HJG_Boeing_707-320_v6.zip" to a temporally folder. Now, in the temporally folder, copy the folder "HJG Boeing 707-320 v6" to the Airplanes folder of FSX (e.g. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\ ). Go inside the "HJG Boeing 707-320 v6" folder that you've just copied (e.g. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\HJG Boeing 707-320 v6\ ) and delete the file "aircraft.cfg". Now rename the file "aircraft_fsx.cfg" to "aircraft.cfg".
8. Unzip the file "707-320_air_france_1959_328_f-bhsb.zip" to a temporally folder. Now, in the temporally folder, open the folder "707-320_air_france_1959_328_f-bhsb". Then copy the folder "texture.air_france_1959_328_f-bhsb" to the "HJG Boeing 707-320 v6" folder inside the Airplanes folder of FSX (e.g. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\HJG Boeing 707-320 v6\ ). Open the file "add to aircraft.txt" with notepad and select all text. Then go to the "HJG Boeing 707-320 v6" folder inside the Airplanes folder of FSX (e.g. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\HJG Boeing 707-320 v6\ ) and open the file "aircraft.cfg" with notepad. Paste the text between:
"// Copyright Historic Jetliners Group. No uploading of HJG materials to any website without prior approval."
and
"[General]"
Change the "xx" in the line [fltsim.xx] to [fltsim.0]. You can repeat this step for every livery, just increase this number every time.
9. Unzip the file "HJG_Effects_Boeing_B707.zip" to a temporally folder. Now, in the temporally folder, copy all the files that end with .fx to the main effects folder of FSX (e.g. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Effects\ ).
10. Unzip the file "b707_core_files_v1.2.zip" to a temporally folder. Now, in the temporally folder, copy the contents of the folder "gauges" to the the main gauges folder of FSX (e.g. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Gauges\ ). Also, copy the contents of the folder "sound" to the main sound folder of FSX (e.g. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Sound\ ).
11. Unzip the file "b707-320_panel.zip" to a temporally folder. Now, in the temporally folder, copy the contents of the folder "panel.b707-320" to the Panel folder inside the "HJG Boeing 707-320 v6" folder. (e.g. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\HJG Boeing 707-320 v6\panel\ ). Choose "overwrite" if asked. Then, inside the panel folder, delete the file "panel.cfg". Then rename the file "panel_fsx.cfg" to "panel.cfg".
12. Unzip the file "aeromusica_b707_j73c_jt4a.zip" to a temporally folder. Now, in the temporally folder, copy the contents of the folder "sound" (inside the folder "aeromusica_b707_j73c_jt4a") to the sound folder inside the "HJG Boeing 707-320 v6" folder. (e.g. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\HJG Boeing 707-320 v6\sound\ ). Choose "overwrite" if asked.
Next time when you start FSX, the aircraft should be visible in the aircraft selection list (under manufacturer "Boeing") and work fine. If you like to see a thumbnail image for each livery, you need to make a screenshot of each livery of the aircraft and resize it to 256x128 pixels (use an image editor like photoshop, paintshop or whatever you prefer). Make sure the image format is JPG and name each of them "thumbnail.jpg". Then copy the image to each texture folder inside the aircraft folder (e.g. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\HJG Boeing 707-320 v6\texture.air_france_1959_328_f-bhsb ).

How do I install a plane that I've downloaded from Historic Jetliners Group on my FS2004 ? When I download my base pake (lets say a 707, for example..), it has two aircraft power point files. One says "aircraft" and the other says "aircraft.fsx". What do I do with this, and how would I install my plane ?
Thank you,
Steven

Go to the HJG website:
https://www.simviation.com/hjg/downloads.htm
Then, choose an aircraft type, the Convair 880 for example. Click on the link 880. A new window will open, click to download the basepack which is on top of the new window. Then scroll down to the liveries and choose one or more. Lets choose the Delta livery 1961 - N8806E and click to download it.
Now close the window and browse down on the main downloads page. At OTHER FILES, click on the link All Models right to the text EFFECTS. A new window will open. Download the effect files for the Convair 880, 880M (3th item).
Close the window and click on Convair right of the text PANELS. A new window will open. Download the Core Files/gauges on top of the page. Then, download one of the panels. Lets choose for the CV880-22 panel, which is the first from top.
Close the window and click on Convair right of the text SOUNDS. A new window will open. Download the sound files for the 880, which is the first download on top.
Now you should have these files:
HJG_Convair_880_v1.2.zip
880_delta_air_lines_1961_n8806e.zip
HJG_Effects_Convair_880.zip
Convair_Panel_Core_Files_v2.zip
HJG CV-880 Panel v2.zip
aeromusica_cv880.zip
First, unzip the file HJG_Convair_880_v1.2.zip to a temporary folder. Go to the temporary folder and move the folder HJG Convair 880 v1.2 to the aircraft folder of FS2004 (e.g. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Aircraft\ ).
Unzip the file 880_delta_air_lines_1961_n8806e.zip to a temporary folder. Now, in the temporary folder there is a folder called 880_delta_air_lines_1961_n8806e, go in that folder. Now you should see another folder called texture.880_delta_air_lines_1961_n8806e. Copy that folder to the HJG Convair 880 v1.2 that you just copied (e.g. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Aircraft\HJG Convair 880 v1.2\ Go back in the temporary folder and look for the file add to aircraft.txt. Open it with notepad. Copy all text to the clipboard. Then go to the file aircraft.cfg which is inside the HJG Convair 880 v1.2 folder (e.g. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Aircraft\HJG Convair 880 v1.2\aircraft.cfg ). Open aircraft.cfg with notepad. Paste the text youve just copied to the clipboard just below this text:
// Add your [fltsim.xx] sections here.
// Remember to start with 0 (zero).
// Copyright Historic Jetliners Group. No uploading of HJG materials to any website without prior approval.
Make sure that you paste above [General]. Now edit this line:
[fltsim.xx]
Change it to:
[fltsim.0]
So it looks like this:
[fltsim.0] // Change "xx" to next number in sequence starting from 0

Up next are the core files. Unzip Convair_Panel_Core_Files_v2.zip to a temporary folder. Go to the temporary folder and copy the contents of the folder Convair_Panel_Gauges to the main gauges folder of FS2004 (e.g. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Gauges\ ). Also, copy the contents of the folder Convair_Panel_Sounds to the main sound folder of FS2004 (e.g. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Sound\ ).
Unzip the file HJG CV-880 Panel v2.zip to a temporary folder. Go to the temporary folder and go in the folder HJG_CV-880_Panel_v2. Copy the contents of the folder panel.cv880 to the panel folder of the Convair 880 (e.g. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Aircraft\HJG Convair 880 v1.2\panel\ ). Copy the contents of the folder sound to the sound folder of the Convair 880 (e.g. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Aircraft\HJG Convair 880 v1.2\sound\ ). If windows asks if you want to overwrite the file sound.cfg, choose yes.
Now you can delete all files youve unzipped to a temporary folder. Start FS and youll find the Convair 880 under the category Convair.
This installation method applies to the majority of the HJG aircraft.
By the way, those aircraft.cfg files are not power point files, windows just shows the same icon since the file extension (.cfg) is the same.
